Nomad Atomics needed a clear and compelling way to communicate a highly technical product — gravity-based underground leak detection — to non-technical stakeholders such as utilities and decision-makers.
The existing material was dense, text-heavy, and difficult to follow, making it challenging to quickly understand the value of the technology and its real-world impact. The goal was to transform complex scientific information into a clean, visually engaging, and investor-ready presentation.

- A complete redesign of the case study and supporting presentation was delivered, focusing on clarity, structure, and visual storytelling. In addition to the redesign, a reusable template system was created, allowing the team to efficiently produce future case studies while maintaining consistency in design and communication.
The approach focused on simplifying complexity through structure and visual hierarchy.
- Broke down technical content into clear, logical sections
- Established a consistent visual system (typography, spacing, colour, iconography)
- Translated complex concepts into diagrams and visual representations (e.g. gravity heatmaps and pipeline visuals)
- Balanced text and imagery to maintain readability without losing depth
- Iterated layouts to ensure the flow guided the reader naturally from problem → solution → results
A strong emphasis was placed on making the document feel both technical and approachable, without overwhelming the reader.

The solution was a structured, visually-led case study system that clearly communicates the technology, its application, and its impact.
- Introduced a clean, modular layout system for consistency across pages
- Designed custom visual elements to explain complex ideas (gravity sensing, leak detection, pipeline mapping)
- Highlighted key metrics and outcomes to improve readability and emphasis
- Created a reusable template framework, enabling the team to produce future case studies quickly while maintaining visual consistency
- Ensured the document was investor-ready and suitable for presentations and stakeholder communication
The final output balanced clarity, flexibility, and scalability.
The redesigned case study successfully communicated both the technology and its impact in a clear and compelling way, while also providing the team with a scalable system for future content creation.
Key outcomes highlighted in the project include:
- Identification of hidden leaks with 50 cm accuracy
- Detection of 8 anomalies, with 7 confirmed as active leaks
- Achieved an 87% success rate in identifying previously unknown leaks
- Enabled potential cost savings of $100 million over the next decade
The final output improved clarity, strengthened communication, and positioned the technology as both credible and commercially viable.
